Facilities available at Cattail Cove State Park. This park is participating in a pilot program called Long Term Camping, read details below.
Ranger Station
The Cattail Cove Ranger Station is open from 8 am - 4 pm and includes a small gift shop.
Restrooms
Two handicap accessible restrooms buildings are located in the campgrounds.
Gift Shop
Located in the Ranger Station, the gift shop's hours are 8 am - 4 pm. The gift shop has books on hiking, birds, plants, trees and other interesting subjects. We have a children’s section with books and t-shirts. We also carry Cattail Cove t-shirts, polo’s and baseball caps.
Camping & RV Sites
Site reservations are available by calling the Reservation Center at (520) 586-2283. You can call 7 days a week, from 8 am to 5 pm MST. There is a $5 non-refundable reservation fee per site. You may also reserve campsites 24/7 for this park online ![]()
61 camping & RV sites. Maximum stay is 2 weeks. 8 people maximum per campsite. Un-reserved sites are sold on a first come first serve basis. Saving sites is not allowed. Potable water is located in the campground. Fires are allowed in the fire rings at each site from October to April, unless other fire restrictions are in effect. Maximum RV length at this park is 40 feet.
57 sites offer 30 amp service. 4 sites offer 50 amp service.
Note: For Memorial Day Weekend and Labor Day Weekend, there is a three night minimum stay for holiday weekend camping: you must reserve Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights.
There is a $15.00 per night fee for second vehicles. Fee will be paid upon arrival at the park. Fee does not apply to vehicles towed behind a primary vehicle when the primary vehicle remains at the site and the towed vehicle is used for transportation.

Long Term Camping (LTC) – New!
Cattail Cove SP will block out 15 sites for Long Term Camping from January 1 through April 30. (Alamo Lake SP also offers LTC, Learn More)
Guests who wish to take advantage of long-term camping (longer than two weeks) must pay in full for the first two weeks of their stay, along with the $5 reservation fee. All long-term reservations will be handled by the Call Center (520) 586-2283. The Call Center will find a site that runs concurrently for the length of stay the guest requests. The Call Center will collect the first two weeks plus the reservation fee and will block out duration of stay in two-week increments.
The Minimum length of stay for a long-term site will be 28 nights (4 weeks). Maximum length of stay will be 84 nights (12 weeks).
Upon the guest arrival, their first two weeks will have been paid in advance through the reservation process. After the first two weeks have ended, the guest will provide future payment in two-week increments on the last day of each two-week segment. Payments will be made by the customer at the contact station during regular business hours. If a guest decides to depart earlier than the date they originally agreed upon, the standard reservation cancellation policy will apply. All other Policies and Rules governing Camping will remain in effect. Note: This is a pilot program subject to change.
Boat-in Camping Sites
28 primitive Boat-in Camping Sites with a Picnic Table and access to pit toilets. There is a garbage can, but please pack out your trash. No firepits or campfires year round. Propane stoves are acceptable. All Boat-in Camping Sites are first come, first served. No saving sites. Boat Camping Sites may also be used for Day Use, but you must completely clear the site by dusk.
Park your vehicle and boat trailer in the parking lot and pay for parking ($15.00 fee). Find an unoccupied Boat-in Camping Site and pay for camping at the site, $15.00, using the "Iron Ranger". A Maximum of 2 Boats with up to 8 total adults at each Boat Camping Site. Maximum length of stay is 15 days.
Dump Station
Dump Station is available to registered campers. Or $15.00 for non campers.
Showers
Showers are available year-round in the 2 restrooms buildings.
Picnic Areas/Shelters
Enjoy a picnic in a Ramada on a beautiful, sandy beach front.
Hiking Trails
Whytes Retreat Trail: This is a 1½ mile hiking trail with a difficulty rating of easy. The trail begins at Cattail Cove State Park and follows the shoreline of Lake Havasu, providing an excellent view of the lower portion of the Colorado River, the Whitsett Pumping Station and Parker Dam. The shoreline portion of the trail ends at Whytes Retreat, one of the boat-in campsites provided by the Bureau of Land Management. The McKinney Loop portion of the trail returns to Cattail Cove through low desert hills and a shallow gorge with bluffs on both sides. To reach the trail follow the entrance road to the boat launch ramp where the trail begins on the south side.
Fishing
Catch the limit with Striped Bass, Bass, Catfish and Crappie. The park has a fish cleaning station. You may buy an Arizona fishing license at the Sandpoint Campground & Marina located next to the park.
A valid Arizona fishing license is required for anglers fourteen and older. Licensing information is available online at Arizona Game & Fish, or purchase a fishing license at a local dealer.
Swimming
Swimming is allowed in the roped off swimming area off the sandy beach. No lifeguard on duty. Swimming is at your own risk.
Boat Ramp
A spacious 4-lane boat ramp with 10-minute courtesy dock can accommodate any size boat, at various lake levels. Please call ahead to get permission from Rangers to launch any boat 35’ or longer.
Non-Motorized Watercraft
Non-motorized watercraft may launch at the boat ramp.
Wildlife Viewing
Birds include loons, ducks, pheasants, hummingbirds and vultures. You may also see rabbits, coyotes, bighorn sheep, raccoons, bobcat and snakes.
